RAPID ANTIGEN SWAB
The rapid antigen test detects the presence of the virus SARS-CoV-2, through viral proteins (antigens) and not through the RNA. The result can be visible without the laboratory analysis. An eventual positive result must be confirmed with a molecular swab. The result of the rapid test is available in 15 minutes.
MOLECULAR SWAB
The molecular swab is carried out by specialised nursing personnel that collect a sample of mucus that covers the superficial cells of the nasal and mouth mucosa using a sterile swab.
The sample is sealed and sent to the laboratory, where it is analysed through a specific procedure called Real Time RT-PCR, to detect the eventual presence of the virus genetic material, confirming of excluding the infection from SARS-CoV-2.
The result of the swab is available within 23:59 on the execution day (Express Swab) or within 23:59 on the following working day from the execution (Fast Swab). The availability of the medical report will be promptly communicated by the analysis laboratory.
